My Grandfather worked for Marconi and invented one of the first satellite broadcast systems for TV My uncle worked for Philips and was an electronics engineer with a passion for amateur radio. With these two in the family I guess it was only time before I became immersed in technology. My Uncle built one of the first home computers (a ZX80) from a kit, and my grandfather bought me a BBC Micro as I was growing up. This started a passion for technology I have had ever since.
For the last 25 Years I have worked in Information Technology & Security and those around me have often commented that I go to work, play with toys and come home again. I’m fortunate to be one of the lucky few who really enjoys his job.
It’s true I have a passion for technology, but I have a very low tolerance for technology that is poorly designed or poorly implemented. There’s just no excuse for it. We now live in a modern world where many of us depend on technology on a daily basis.
However, due to my passion and aptitude for technology, I am invariably the unofficial “support” for family, friends (and their friends) when technology doesn’t quite do what it says on the tin. So here I will share a little about my experiences both past and present and hope you benefit as much as I have from what I’ve learned over the last 25 years.
